Pete Tong Talks Orchestral Ibiza Classics, Gender Inequality in Dance and Manchester Attacks: Watch

Pete Tong wants to make it clear: When he takes his Ibiza Classics live presentation to the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles Thursday, Nov. 9, it's not going to be him up on a stage pressing play while The Heritage Orchestra plays along. It's going to be timeless dance favorites played entirely by 65-piece orchestra, conducted by Jules Buckley, with fresh tweaks, special guests, and unforgettable music.

“The energy will be … celebrating, bringing a bit of Ibiza to such an iconic venue as the Hollywood Bowl,” he says in a recent Facebook Live interview with Billboard Dance's Jordan Diaz. “5,000-18,000 people outside under the stars in a desert vibe is very much keeping in the Ibiza spirits.”

In his nearly 30-minute sit-down, Tong talks the magic of Ibiza through the years, as well as touches upon the tough topics discussed at this year's International Music Summit, including diversity and gender inequality in dance music. He addressed his recently viral quote about EDM's American peak, and took a moment to honor those lost in the recent attack on music lovers in Manchester during the Ariana Grande concert.

Tickets for the Hollywood Bowl show and other Ibiza Classics engagements go on sale Friday, June 9. Check out the full interview with the BBC Radio 1 host and legendary producer and DJ below.
