Martin Garrix is doing his part to give back and get involved. Today (Feb. 24), he was announced as an international friend for SOS Children’s Village, a non-profit that “builds families for orphaned, abandoned, and other vulnerable children around the world.”

The world renowned DJ/producer celebrated the announcement by taking a trip to SOS Village Cape Town, South Africa to see first-hand how the organization impacts children who have lost their parents. Not only did he meet with children growing up in SOS families, he even played a short DJ set for them.

Garrix told Billboard that he’s very close with his parents and that their unconditional support played a huge part of his success and added that “it is awful that so many children around the world don’t have the support of a caring family.”

Stephen Miller, Nation Director of SOS Children’s Villages South Africa, said of Garrix,“He inspires millions of young people around the globe to live up to their dreams. A perfect match for SOS Children’s Villages.”
