The dance world praises The Chainsmokers for showcasing the songwriting-centric side of dance music. It's a big part of why the duo's music crossed over into the mainstream – or is it?

What if you replaced all the lyrics of “Closer” with nonsense words? Would the song still resonate with listeners? Yes, yes it would, as evidenced by this very bizarre “Bing Bong” cover of the Hot 100 number one tune, in which the creators replace every word with either “bing” or “bong.” It's become a viral sensation on the Internet, closing in on 500,000 views on YouTube. Granted, it probably wouldn't be so popular if “Closer” weren't a huge hit to begin with. Still, it makes you wonder, right?

Check the inane goofs below. Here's to hoping The Chainsmokers aren't close to being replaced by these two bing bongers.
