Moby Reveals Beef Started When Aphex Twin Called Him a 'Buffoon'

In a recent interview, Moby reveals that it isn't just Eminem who has bullied him -- he's also dodged swipes from his electronic music comrade Aphex Twin.

While touring together in 1993 with Orbital and Vapourspace, Moby says the producer (real name: Richard D. James) repeatedly slammed him in interviews.

Moby tells the Rave Curious podcast that James questioned why they were on the same tour, calling Moby "a buffoon."

Moby says that while he was initially a fan of Aphex Twin's music, "It's hard to continue to like someone's music when you know they hold you in contempt."

Earlier this year, Moby addressed the beef in his memoir Porcelain, which was published in June. “I wanted to like Aphex Twin, because I loved his records," Moby writes. "But he rarely spoke to anyone, and when he gave interviews he criticized me for playing guitar on stage. He called me an elitist in the press, when actually I just had crippling tour-bus-inspired insomnia.”

Moby's 13th studio album, These Systems Are Failing, was released in October.
