The year is not out, but Ibiza counted and found a record breaking 7,109,115 tourists came through its airport in from October 2015 to October 2016. The 7 million-plus record outshines last year's total by 14.6 percent.

According to Ibizan publication Diario de Ibiza, the number came as a bit of a shock as this summer saw federal raids on world-famous nightclubs Amnesia, Pacha, and Ushuaia as well as the surprising closure of legendary staple Space. It doesn't seem the shake ups had any effect at all on outsiders thirst for Ibizan culture and nightlife, although some officials wonder how long the island's resources can sustain such growing revelry.
