Watch Marshmello & Electric Family Donate $6K of Toys to Teach Kids Responsibility
Dance music has always been a sound for and by the people. It was created by marginalized members' of society as a means to freedom, even if it only lasted for a few sweaty hours on a dark dance floor.
The music has shifted, grown, expanded, and exploded in the past few decades, but that feeling of freedom remains in every soaring melody and bass boom. Electric Family made that its central tenant. The company specializes in streetwear for dance music fans with the aim of raising money for charity and increasing social awareness.
As well as partnering with artists to sell signature bracelets to support charities, Electric Family works with them on "Do Good" initiatives. Most recently, it did so with Marshmello and Los Angeles' Toy Loan program. The all-white mystery man came through the Toy Lending Library of Los Angeles with more than $6,000 worth of new toys.
Kids have the chance to borrow any toy they want for a certain amount of time, and earn points toward buying toys whenever they return toys clean, intact, and in a timely fashion. It teaches the children responsibility, community-building skills, respect for themselves, their things, and other, and brings a whole lot of fun.
