Daft Punk Tour Rumored Following Reddit Discovery

UPDATE: Consequence of Sound and Pitchfork now report that Daft Punk has no plans to tour in 2017.

Fans are freaking out over what may or may not be a sign of impending robot takeover. Lollapalooza's website, without any explanation, has a page dedicated to the tag “Daft Punk.”

Originally discovered by Reddit, speculation says it could signify a Daft Punk booking at Lollapalooza Chicago in Aug. 2017. It aligns with previous rumors that a supposedly leaked but unconfirmed Lollapalooza Chile 2017 lineup reveals both Daft Punk and recent collaborator The Weeknd on the bill.

However, those too scared to let hopes fly point out that the robotic French duo did play Lolla in 2007, and this could be some old tag rearing it's head. Further investigation by fellow Redditers sees the tag appear first in February of this year, way after that 2007 performance.

The Weeknd Unveils 'Starboy' Title Track With Daft Punk: Listen

Any Daft Punk superfan knows the pair have toured the world only twice. The first time in support of debut album Homework in 1997. The second time in support of no album at all, seemingly just to blow people's minds and change the course of popular music and stage production forever with that dope pyramid in 2006 and 2007. Now that another decade is past, are we overdue for an appearance?

Billboard Dance has reached out to Lollapalooza for comment and will update the story with any information.
