Something weird is happening on Twitter. When people hear The Chainsmokers' hit “Closer,” they're losing their minds. That's the run of the meme, anyway, and the rules seem simple:

Give your friend a phone. Have friend record you acting a damn fool to the song's heartfelt chords. Extra points if you dress wacky. You're a meme!

The phenomenon is currently trending in Twitter's Moments tab, and bears a surface resemblance to the viral video craze that helped power Baauer's "Harlem Shake" to the top of the Hot 100 in 2013.

The Chainsmokers seem to be encouraging it, re-posting a video yesterday (Sept. 15) of a fan dancing in a bear suit on Instagram. Billboard Dance has reached out to their reps for comment.

If you're asking yourself what it all means, it means you're too old. The internet isn't supposed to make sense. It remains to be seen whether this will scale into full-fledged virality, but here are some prime examples to keep you amused in the meantime.
