Luke Slater has been making electronic music for more than two decades, releasing projects under a variety of names in addition to his own: Clementine, The 7th Plain, Planetary Assault Systems. This year, he's been active under the last two monikers, unveiling a collection of previously unheard material from The 7th Plain and starting a series of EPs that place old Planetary Assault Systems tracks next to fresh remixes from other techno artists.

Berghain's Ostgut Ton Label Launches A-TON With Release From The 7th Plain

On September 30th, a new Planetary Assault Systems record hits the shelves titled Arc Angel"With this album, it was very much a case of limitation and focus around the idea of alternative melody," Slater noted in a statement. "I love music that takes you somewhere new. All music for this album had to pass that test. At the same time I wanted to re-root the foundations of what I see as techno into that and focus on melody, rather than a track just being a beat... I think we've learnt how to do the big straight beats now and I like trying to push things further without becoming abstract for the sake of it."

Today Billboard is premiering "Behind The Eyes," which appears in the mid-section of Arc Angel. Slater explained the track's origins via email, and he again emphasized the importance of ending up somewhere new. "I released the track 'The Eyes Themselves' on my label Mote-Evolver just over a year ago, and 'Behind The Eyes' is the track I wrote just after that one," he wrote. "I really like the idea of new sounds that can reach parts of us never explored. As humans we are developing all the time, our senses keep on developing. We cannot see the whole color spectrum; we can't hear all frequencies; but they exist. There's of course a lot out there we don't know yet about, and I'm just trying to explore that realm with music.”
