Help Flying Lotus Make His First Movie 'Kuso'

Flying Lotus
Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic for Governors Ball Music Festival

Flying Lotus performs during the Governors Ball Music Festival at Randall's Island on June 7, 2015 in New York City.

Soundtrack features Aphex Twin, Thundercat & more.

It was all a lie! Flying Lotus wasn't debuting a short film called Royal at Sundance Film Festival's Next Fest. He was actually teasing a tidbit from his work in progress, debut full-length feature Kuso.

“Kuso,” according to Wikipedia, is the East Asian term for internet culture that includes all things full of camp and parody. Flying Lotus tweets that Kuso the film is a jolly romp through “pretty much everything I'm afraid of.” He handed out branded barf bags at the Next Fest viewing. It's charming, we're sure.

Why the Grammys Are Getting Cooler: FlyLo May Have Screened Your Submission

The enigmatic producer, DJ, rapper, and now film maker is doing it all by himself. He's calling in every favor he's got and then some, refusing to be beholden to Kickstarter perks or anything of that nature. He tried to get Dave Chappelle on board but ultimately failed. He did succeed, however, on getting Aphex Twin, Thundercat, and Akira Yamaoka on the soundtrack, which will also feature new Captain Murphy (very exciting!).

He's also asking anyone in the Los Angeles area who might be able to help with production to send reels to the Brainfeeder Twitter account. You, too, could see your name in the credits of Kuso, right there next to Director Steve. Check the Royal teaser below.
