That movie We Are Your Friends came out and tried to capitalize on the EDM craze. It was actually not a bad movie, but it performed with historically bad opening numbers. Let it never be said that Hollywood can cash in on dance music easily.
To that Netflix says “Whatever, man,” and presents its own original EDM-centric film. XOXO is about a kid who gets booked at what is basically, by the looks of it, the EDC of this fictional universe. He meets a girl, presumably, and it looks like it's her first festival ever. Some music exec guy is like “this life is hard, dude, get ready,” and some angry old music journalist is like “what am I doing here?” Now, that's what I call relatable.
