Songs that tell a personal story of pain and suffering often beget the most memorable moments. When the world around us crumbles, art has the power to save, and Prince Fox hopes his heart-wrenching experience with lung cancer can be a moment of beauty for others.

“Oxygen,” featuring Michelle Buzz, was inspired by he and his friend Justin Gammella's loved ones who lost their lives to lung cancer. Prince Fox lost his god-grandmother Shirley to the disease, a woman he credits as being the inspiration for his career, the person who helped shape him to be the man he is today. The lyrics tell the story literally and metaphorically.

“When I heard the initial idea for 'Oxygen' that my buddy … sent over, I knew I had to finish it,” Prince Fox says in an email statement. “This song is certainly one of the most personal, near and dear songs I've worked on, and I'm excited to finally be sharing it with the world.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, more than 200,000 cases of lung cancer are reported in the United States every year. Perhaps this song can be a source of hope for the many families effected.
