Machines Take Over On Ambivalent's 'Whyou:' Exclusive Premiere

Ambivalent

Kevin McHugh has been putting out music as Ambivalent for roughly a decade. Though he was born in America, he's now based in Berlin, and the geographical relocation is paying off: his latest release, "Whyou" -- premiering today exclusively on Billboard -- arrives via the acclaimed German label Kompakt. It's a double A-Side single that also includes a remix from a Kompakt co-head, Michael Mayer.

"Whyou" is rubbery and relentless. According to McHugh, "this was a track where I just let the music and the machines take over. It goes somewhere I couldn't have planned, but I followed it, and I'm extremely happy with where it landed."

"I'm even more pleased that it inspired one of my personal heroes to convert it into such an amazing remix," the producer added. "And it's on a label I've revered for decades."
