Insomniac Events -- the production team behind the two festivals -- founder Pasquale Rotella revealed the news to fans yesterday (March 30) in a message posted on the company's website. Rotella disclosed that the decision is not due to attendance, emphasizing they were always a "packed house," and that the change comes from a shift in focus in festivals.

"Right now, we’ve decided to focus on exploring new cities and enhancing the experience at some of our other festivals," said Rotella in the post.

A new goal for Insomniac will be bringing back "the true art of DJing" and that fans should expect to see longer set times at festivals this year. And while these two won't be returning, Rotella announced that they are working on new U.S. festivals for 2017, with some even featuring camping.

He also explained that EDC Japan's July launch date will be held off until further plans are announced, and they are re-launching Insomniac records.
