Awakenings Announces Lineup & Venue for Awakenings NYC: Exclusive

The powerhouse Dutch techno brand shares the details on their U.S. solo show debut.

Techno fans dream of Awakenings at Gashouder. If the multi-day festival has become the crown jewel of techno culture in Amsterdam, then Gashouder is its steely, sweat-coated palace.

After making its North American debut at Electric Zoo in September, Awakenings is preparing to throw its first ever solo event in the U.S. come February of next year.

Since my first visit to the U.S. in 1991, it was always my dream to come and bring Awakenings to this beautiful country that has inspired me so much,” Awakenings founder Rocco Veenboer says. “I visited two Grateful Dead shows in Giants Stadium and the show they put on was such a powerful visual trip, it completely opened my eyes.”

The show will take place in New York City on Feb. 14 at the Hammerstein Ballroom. As typical of their events, the company is planning some next-level production for the show. “Our visual team is already busy creating a custom production that transforms this venue into the greatest techno-dome that Manhattan has ever seen,” Veenboer says.

The lineup, which Billboard is exclusively announcing, will feature Adam Beyer B2B Ida Engberg, Julia Govor B2B Kamran Sadeghi, Pan-Pot, and more.

“It’s Valentine's so we wanted to create a more tech house-y kinda sound with a lot of love and 200 percent party-music,” Veenboer says. “Adam and Ida are the king and queen of techno and they are Awakenings residents so they just had to come along.”

Ultimately, the arrival of Awakenings in the U.S. is a harbinger of good things to come. As Veenboer divulged, New York City is just the beginning: “We have formed a great Awakenings North America team which is already working on possibilities in all main markets of U.S. & Canada.”
