Party's Over (Early): Ibiza Clubs to Close at 6:30 AM Starting Next Summer
Ibiza, where parties typically go on well into daylight hours, is cracking down on clubs that stay open late (or early, depending on how you look at it) with a new island-wide closing time of 6:30 a.m.
The island's governing council (made up of a president and five mayors) voted on the sanction Thursday, promising harsher penalties for venues that disregard the new rule, which will impact Ibiza megaclubs like Pacha, DC-10, Sankeys, Amnesia and Space.
The island-wide closing time also contains provisions for smaller clubs -- beach clubs will close at midnight, while cafés conciertos will close at 5 a.m. The decision comes in the wake of a number of clubs violating the closing times dictated by their individual licenses.
The new regulations will go into effect next summer.
