Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike become the first duo, and the first artists from Belgian, to win top honors. The pair said they were "speechless" with the win and they’ve provided their fans with an update on their forthcoming artist album. “For us, the album is the biggest priority,” comments Dimitri Vegas. “We’ve been working on it for years…we want it to be perfect, and we’re both pretty difficult guys. We want to do something different…we really want to do something that’s going to be memorable. There’s still a lot of work to do but I think it’s shaping up really well.”
Dutchmen Martin Garrix, Armin Van Buuren and Tiesto round out the top 5 of the DJ Mag poll, which was unveiled this weekend during the 20th annual Amsterdam Dance Event.
Calvin Harris Tops Forbes' Highest Paid DJs List
“Since day one we’ve put every bit of energy and time we can into our music and our shows in order to give the fans the greatest experience any DJ could offer,” Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike told fans today from Amsterdam. “So it’s such an incredible honour to receive this award knowing it’s from the guys that matter most to us.”
EDM superstars David Guetta, Avicii, Afrojack, Skrillex and Steve Aoki cracked the top ten, while the world’s best-paid DJ last year, Calvin Harris, according to Forbes, came in at No. 11.
