Wave Racer Premieres Highly Anticipated Lido Collaboration 'World Record': Exclusive

Wave Racer 2015

Wave Racer

For the past two years, Wave Racer has championed a wholly unique style, carving out a distinct niche in the future bass world. To typecast him to a singular genre would be disingenuous, however. Influenced by 8-bit sounds, arpeggios and disco, the Sydney producer pulls from a diverse range of music when crafting his songs.

Having signed to Australian imprint Future Classic -- the same home as Flume, Chet Faker, Cashmere Cat and more -- Wave Racer is gearing up for the release of his debut EP for the label, Flash Drive.

How Indie Label-Turned-Musical Movement Future Classic Put Australia on the EDM Map

Following the title track, the second single from the EP is “World Record,” featuring Norway’s Lido. It’s a collaboration that’s been a long time coming, having been previewed in Wave Racer’s sets for the last year or so. The song showcases both artists’ expertise, effortlessly blending their penchants for jazz, chiptune, and R&B. Ultimately, as two of the more inventive minds within the loosely termed future bass realm, it’s a partnership that simply feels natural.

Listen to Wave Racer’s “World Record feat. Lido,” which Billboard is exclusively premiering. The Flash Drive EP will be released on Future Classic on Oct. 16.
