Skrillex Announces Youth Charity Program for Upcoming Train Tour
Skrillex announced a new charity project Wednesday in partnership with Bridges for Music that will donate thousands of dollars worth of Pioneer music equipment to local youth music centers along the route of his Full Flex Express train tour of Canada this month.
From Ottawa, Ont., to Pemberton, B.C., Skrillex has targeted one youth organization in each city, to which he will donate two CDJ 2000s and one DJM 900 mixer. He will also give the young fans a small demo on how to use the gear and a tour during sound check to see what a show of this size looks like behind the scenes.
As well, a portion of all proceeds from the tour's ticket sales will be donated to Bridges for Music's fund for the construction of the Langa Music School in South Africa.
Bridges for Music is also offering exclusive Skrillex prizes in exchange for donations to all supporters globally through a crowd-funding page. These include backstage passes to some of the Full Flex Express shows, limited edition Electric Family bracelets, a Jack Ü flexi-disc signed by Skrillex and Diplo and an exclusive video from Skrillex. Purchases also come with entries to win a grand VIP prize package to attend any Skrillex show in North America, including US flights, accommodation and tickets.
