Maya Jane Coles is baring her dark side to the dance world.

The British-Japanese artist launched her Nocturnal Sunshine project to give an outlet to her downtempo, bass-driven leanings that tech house couldn't provide. "Believe ft. Chelou," the second single from her forthcoming album, proves the project is worth taking seriously.

Pairing attention-grabbing lyrics like "I stole a kiss from her lips because I knew that she wouldn't give it freely" with a nihilist refrain of "I don't believe in anything," the brooding track is significantly more conceptually charged than Coles' club-focused material.

"Believe" showcases the gentle vocals of singer/songwriter Chelou, providing a fitting follow-up to Nocturnal Sunshine's first single, "Take Me There."

Nocturnal Sunshine's eponymous album will be available on May 25, and can be pre-ordered here.
