Drum and bass pioneer Roni Size is returning to the U.S. on the heels of the 20th anniversary of his seminal 1997 double album New Forms for a brand-new solo tour.

“Twenty years in any career is a good stretch, but to hear firsthand from the supporters of the genre that the first record they ever heard with ‘that beat’ was New Forms has been overwhelming and affirming,” Roni says of the conversations on tour about the album’s legacy.

Size and his drum and bass collective Reprazent broke into the mainstream with their debut album New Forms 20 years ago this year. The album went platinum and was awarded the contentious Mercury Music Prize in 1997.

The Bristol-born producer has maintained his status as one of electronic music’s most eclectic ears with full-time duties running Full Cycle Records as well as producing tracks with Method Man, Zack de la Rocha (Rage Against the Machine), and beatboxer and rapper Rahzel.

This year has seen a resurgence for Size as he received the 2017 Music Producers Guild Inspiration Award in February and booked his first U.S. dates in almost a decade with sold-out sets in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Denver.

The “Brown Paper Bag” artist is continuing the momentum with a full-fledged tour of the United States. The outing will serve as a mix of the past and present, as Size continues to cast a massive shadow on the ambient and electronic music world.

“In 1997 we attempted to kick the break beat doors open,” Size explains. “It seems like in 2017 the doors are hanging off their hinges and the fans in North America not only embrace the genre but claim it as their first love.”

The tour will continue in Los Angeles this Wednesday (July 19) at The Roxy and will run through the end of the month. Tour dates are listed below and more information can be found on his website here.
