Corinne Bailey Rae Announces New U.S. Tour Dates

Corinne Bailey Rae performs at The Tabernacle on April 7, 2016 in London.

If Corinne Bailey Rae’s show at the Lyric Theatre in Los Angeles on Thursday night is any indication, the singer-songwriter has been sorely missed. Jockeying for elbow room inside the intimate venue, the capacity crowd alternated between enthusiastic sing-alongs and shout-outs of “I love you” as Rae performed on behalf of her latest album, The Heart Speaks in Whispers.

Accompanied by a tight four-piece band, the British singer-songwriter-guitarist featured six songs from the set -- her third overall and first new project in six years. Those warmly received selections included “Been to the Moon,” “Green Aphrodisiac,” “Stop Where You Are” and “The Skies Will Break.” Rounding out the 12-song show were faves from her 2010 second album The Sea (“Closer,” “Paris Nights/New York Mornings”) and her 2006 self-titled debut album (“Put Your Records On” and encore song “Like a Star”).
