BTS' 'Boy With Luv' Feat. Halsey Is the Most-Viewed 24 Hour Debut in YouTube History with 74.6 Million Views

With each and every new song, it seems like BTS is just getting bigger and bigger, and now the group has officially made history -- again!

YouTube confirmed on Saturday (April 13) that the South Korean septet’s newly released “Boy With Luv” music video featuring Halsey had the best-ever first-day music video on the site.

“Yes, we're still running the numbers. But we can confirm that ‘Boy With Luv’ feat. Halsey is now *officially* the most-viewed 24 hour debut in @YouTube history!!” tweeted YouTube Music’s official account, tagging the artists’ official accounts and using multiple hashtags.

“Congratulations BTS. Enjoy SNL tonight!”

BTS premiered their live performance of "Boy With Luv" on Saturday Night Live later that night. They were the first-ever South Korean musical guest to appear on the show.

The group were also recently confirmed to be the first Asian artist to exceed 5 billion streams on Spotify.

The YouTube record replaces the one recently made earlier this month by quartet BLACKPINK, another act coming out of the K-pop scene. The group’s “Kill This Love” music video was released on April 4, and YouTube later confirmed that it was viewed 56.7 million times in its first 24-hour period, blowing past a previous record set by Ariana Grande's "Thank U, Next" video, which achieved 55.4 million views in the same time span.

YouTube has yet to release the exact numbers for the “Boy With Luv” music video. At the time of publication on Sunday (April 14), the two-day-old video’s publicly viewed counter already surpassed 113 million views.

The video streaming site has faced some consternation from fans after numbers dipped on Saturday, seemingly erasing 10 million views, but the company has offered explanations through its Team YouTube Twitter account that it is business as usual while its systems try to verify what it considers true views versus illegitimate ones.

“Our systems will continue to validate views and remove any views that aren't legitimate,” the account tweeted in response to one Twitter user. “We're still working through it, so stay tuned for the final view count numbers.”

The account cited the immense amount of traffic the music video has seen as one cause of the confusion for its systems to validate views.

“When views are really high, the public view count that you see doesn't often keep up with our backend systems,” it said in another tweet. “As a result, the public view count may adjust at a later time once the two catch up with each other. That's what happened in this case!”

Update: On Monday (April 15), YouTube confirmed to Billboard that "Boy With Luv" registered 74.6 million views in its first 24-hour period. It also is the fastest music video ever uploaded to the site to hit the 100 million milestone, reaching 100 million views in under 2 days.
