BTS' Label Announces New Boy Band TXT: Meet the First Member, Yeonjun

BTS' label Big Hit Entertainment revealed the upcoming launch of TXT, the company's new boy band, today (Jan. 10).

After teasing the news yesterday through social media posts, Big Hit announced its new group and shared an introductory film to the act. The group’s name stands for “Tomorrow X Together,” and BigHit tells Billboard is to be read as "Tomorrow By Together,” as how it is written in Korean.

The introduction film, titled "What Do you Do?" introduces the first member of TXT, Yeonjun. In the clip, he is seen playing around on his own in an arcade and computer cafe, and singing karaoke with a bear for company, as a bright rock and roll melody playing in the background. The video ends with a blank screen as Morse code is heard, which fans quickly decoded to translate into the word “Dreaming.”

BigHit also shared teaser images of Yeonjun, and launched the group’s official Twitter account, sharing the group’s futuristic logo.

Shortly after its release, terms like "Yeonjun," "BigHit" and the hashtag #TOMORROW_X_Together began trending worldwide on Twitter.

TXT is the second-ever boy band formed by Big Hit Entertainment, six years since Billboard 200 chart-toppers BTS got their start in 2013. In the past, the company also managed vocal pop boy band 2AM along with other acts.

BigHit has yet to announce TXT’s debut date or the amount of members in its lineup, but Billboard has reached out for further details.

Update: In a statement released later in the day, Big Hit Entertainment states: "TOMORROW X TOGETHER is a bright and youthful boyband where each member is different from one another, shining in their own way to create a synergy. Just as how their name suggests, the different members have all come together under one dream in hopes of building a new tomorrow."

The company also described Yeonjun as a "19-year-old member with outstanding dancing skills." BigHit tells Billboard that he is the eldest in the group.
