BTS Becomes First Korean Act to Surpass 1 Billion Streams on Apple Music
In their latest momentous feat, BTS are the first Korean artist to surpass 1 billion streams on Apple Music.
On Sunday (Nov. 4), Big Hit Entertainment shared a link to an Osen News story that reported the news, and Billboard has confirmed that BTS are the first Korean artist to achieve the milestone, surpassing even the likes of Psy.
Though there are no exact numbers, BTS’ combined streams came from around the globe, and Osen particularly highlighted the United States, South Korea, Japan, Canada, Australia, and countries in Europe and Southeast Asia.
The South Korean septet is currently in the middle of their Love Yourself world tour, which has sold out over 20 shows in South Korea, and in several North American and European countries. Their next show is at the Tokyo Dome on Nov. 13, kicking off the multi-city, sold-out Japanese leg of the tour.
As one of the most popular musical acts of this generation, BTS has broken countless records, spoken at the United Nations, and seen two Billboard 200 chart-topping albums in 2018 alone.
