Former First Lady Michelle Obama and Pres. Barack Obama have been longtime supporters of Lin-Manuel Miranda and his Tony-winning smash Hamilton. The Obamas hosted the cast of the smash Broadway musical and local students at the White House for a daylong celebration of the arts in 2016 and on Monday (July 6) Michelle Obama gave the new Hamilton film a huge shout-out.

"So thrilled for @Lin_Manuel and the entire #Hamilfilm team!" she tweeted after the movie debuted on Disney+. "We’ve seen recently that the young and diverse America that you all represent and bring to life on screen is still here, still hopeful, and still blowing us all away."

The nearly three-hour movie captures a 2016 performance of the show with the original cast at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in Manhattan.
