Kinky Boots producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig announced Thursday (Oct. 11) that English singer-songwriter Conor Maynard will join the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical in the lead role.

“I am honored and beyond excited to be able to join the incredible company of Kinky Boots,” Conor Maynard tells Billboard in an emailed statement. “I’ve always truly admired the talent that performers on Broadway possess and performing alongside them is going to be a real challenge. I’m so lucky to have the most devoted fans on the planet, and I can’t wait to show them another side of me.”

Maynard will play Charlie Price, a role previously held by Panic! at the Disco's Brendon Urie, American Idol winner David Cook, Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears, Neon Trees' Tyler Glenn and Dancing With the Stars pro Mark Ballas.

Written by Geoff Deane & Tim Firth, Kinky Boots follows the uplifting story of Charlie, a young man reluctantly taking over his family’s struggling shoe factory. Looking to add some fresh ideas into the industry, Charlie finds an unlikely friend and inspiration in Lola. Through the ups and downs of their relationship, they soon discover the difference that one good friend can make.

Maynard's first appearance will be Nov. 20, with the last show for the Broadway musical taking place on April 7, 2019. Kinky Boots is the 25th longest-running production in Broadway history.

Tickets for Kinky Boots range from $55-$163 and are available for purchase both in person at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre box office and online.
