Jake Shears, member of glam-pop group Scissor Sisters, took to Instagram to announce that he’ll make his Broadway debut as part of the cast of Kinky Boots from Jan. 8 to April 1 next year.

“I'm coming to Broadway, baby,” he wrote in the caption. “Holy moly i'm excited. this is gonna be fun :))))”

The musical tells the story of a shoe factory inheritor who befriends a drag queen to save the business with a line of high-heeled boots. Shears will star alongside Pentatonix’s Kristin Maldonado.

Theatricality has always played a big part of the Scissor Sisters’ catalogue, and this isn’t the singer’s first foray into the theater. He wrote the music for the stage musical Tales of the City and announced in 2015 that we was writing a play with Elton John, whom Scissor Sisters collaborated with on “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin'.”

Shears’s participation is a continuation of Kinky Boots’s pop tradition, as the music and lyrics were written by Cyndi Lauper.
