Roddy Ricch Performs 'High Fashion' and 'The Box' at the 2020 BET Awards

On Sunday night (June 28) the BET Awards celebrated its 20th anniversary — virtually, of course — with a special show that boasted the tagline: "Our culture can't be cancelled."

Following a powerful opening performance from Public Enemy featuring teen gospel singer Keedron Bryant, and an impassioned opening from host Amanda Seales, Roddy Ricch was up. The quickly rising rapper delivered such a high-quality virtual medley of "High Fashion" and his breakout hit "The Box" that it felt much closer to an intimate music video, complete with blue backlighting, a car as a prop and a dancer whose dress changed colors to the beat.

Roddy Ricch started his performance seated at a white piano in a room drenched in blue lighting. He then performed a verse from the driver's seat, before hopping out to stand in front of a screen that filled with friends on Zoom.

Already this year, Roddy Ricch topped the Billboard Hot 100 with "The Box" and his collaboration with DaBaby on "Rockstar"; landed at No. 1 with his album, Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial; and at the Grammys, he took home his first award, for best rap performance, as a featured artist on Nipsey Hussle’s “Racks in the Middle."
