Kirk Franklin brought the crowd to church at the 2019 BET Awards on Sunday night (June 23) with a rafter-raising gospel performance in the final act of the ceremony.

The gospel king and host of BET's gospel competition Sunday Best brought out a full gospel choir and the judges from the program, Erica Campbell, Kelly Price and Jonathan McReynolds, to lend their voices to a heavenly chorus near the close of the 3.5-hour broadcast.

In spite of the late set time, Franklin was a ball of praise-giving energy and led the congregation in a sing-along -- centered on Franklin's own "Love Theory," which earned him a BET Award nomination this year -- that had the audience joining in from their seats.

Franklin scored two nominations in the Gospel/Inspiration category at this year's BET Awards, one for "Love Theory" and another for his collaboration with Tori Kelly, "Never Alone" (which took home an award for best gospel performance/song at the 2019 Grammy Awards).
