Aside from his eye-catching black-and-white-striped two-piece ensemble -- which the artist poked fun at by chanting "Beetlejuice!" three times from the Hakkasan stage -- Post fit right in with the Vegas crowd, keeping his Bud Light and cigarette handy throughout the celebratory five-song set. In fact, he sometimes kept his cigarette so close, it was hanging from his mouth as he sang through the smoke. He kicked things off with "White Iverson," with the crowd happily finishing the lyrics of Post's breakthrough single whenever he pointed the mic their way.
The crowd was a huge part of the set, with the artist doling out high-fives to the clubgoers in reaching distance and one girl right outside VIP jumping up and down yelling, "I'm so happy! I'm so happy!" between songs. At one point, Malone joked of the intimate stage, "I am accepting tips tonight," prompting a few fans to toss bills onstage. (Good to have a rainy-day fund even when you're at the top.)
During the performance, Post took a moment to sit onstage and tell a story about his come-up, singling out the people who didn't think he would make it this far. "They said, 'You'll never win a Billboard Award. You'll never have the No. 1 album in the country,'" Malone said about his naysayers along the way. "I see those same motherfuckers every day, and you know what I say? 'Congratu-fucking-lations!'" he hollered before launching into his Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hit "Congratulations."
Post's VIP area was packed with famous friends, including T.I., Normani, French Montana and Halsey. Los Angeles DJ Justin Credible, who spun before and after Post's performance, saluted the A-list guests by playing Tip's "What You Know" and French's "Unforgettable" when the artists hit the booth.
