Dua Lipa Talks Calvin Harris, Addresses 'Bond' Theme Rumors at Billboard Music Awards: Watch

The singer also has a message for her LGBTQ fans.

Dua Lipa caught up with Billboard’s Keith Caulfield on the red carpet at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 20) to chat about working with Calvin Harris, address rumors that she is recording the next James Bond theme song and to share a message with her LGBTQ fans ahead of Pride month.

Lipa, who performed her song "New Rules" at the event, says that the past 12 months have been “really surreal” for her, adding, “I’m so grateful for the response and it’s totally changed my life and I get to tour the world and I get to experience different crowds and honestly I’m so, so happy…and doing this tonight is pretty crazy for me…It’s my first big American awards show performance.”

The singer also discusses working with Calvin Harris on their latest track “One Kiss.” Harris, she says, “pays so much attention to detail,” while Lipa says she pays more attention to storyline. “What [Harris] does,” she says, “[Is that] he just has fun with everything he does and nothing really sounds like something that you’ve heard before. I think with him, and what you see from all his previous songs, is that everything’s constantly evolving and that you should never be afraid to change.”

Asked if the rumors are true that she is recording the next James Bond theme song, Lipa avoids giving any affirmative response, telling Billboard, “I don’t know. I would love to do it, but I’m not recording it…so far…I don’t want to jinx it. I would love to do it.”

Ahead of Pride month in June, Lipa is also asked if she has any message for her LGBTQ fans, to which she replies, “I think it’s important to, well first of all, just to show support, especially with the platform that I have to be able to kind of put the message out to a lot more people for acceptance and to show that love is love and unity and all of these things that I think are really important that we see every day and to us is just so lovely and I think it’s just important to share that with the world a lot more.”
