Jennifer Lopez on Working With Cardi B, Why Janet Jackson Is an Idol at Billboard Music Awards: Watch
Jennifer Lopez stopped to chat with Billboard’s Keith Caulfield on the red carpet at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 20), discussing working with Cardi B and why Janet Jackson is such a musical icon.
Lopez, who recently dropped a brand new single called “Dinero” featuring Cardi B and DJ Khaled, says that when she first heard the track, she knew “right away” that she wanted Cardi B to feature on it. “At that time, ‘Bodak Yellow’ had just come out, but I just, I don’t know, she’s from the Bronx, she’s Dominican, I just, I felt like it was the right vibe, and I don’t know, I just felt like she would kill it, and she did.”
The singer also chats about Janet Jackson, who is receiving this year’s Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards. Lopez, who received the award herself in 2014, says that Jackson has always been one of her idols.
“I probably started dancing because of her video ‘Pleasure Principle,’” Lopez reveals. “It was one of my favorite videos ever, still is. And I’m just excited for her. She deserves everything she gets. She is such a musical icon from an iconic musical family and she deserves everything she’s getting.”
