There's just hours to go before the 2017 Billboard Music Awards start, but one performer is already a contender for all-time BBMAs best.

Saturday night (May 20) in Las Vegas, fans caught footage of Champagne Papi rehearsing for his Sunday night BBMAs performance inside the famed Fountains of Bellagio of the Bellagio Hotel.

On a platform inside the fountain, a white-clad Drake ran through More Life's "Gyalchester" (fitting since it's about money and running the game) while synchronized spurts of pyro blasted off around him -- all while the lights and waters of the Bellagio fountains went through their visually stunning nightly dance.

Earlier this week, Mark Bracco, executive vice president of programming and development with dick clark productions and the Billboard Music Awards's executive producer, tipped Billboard Drake's performance would be something out of the ordinary.

"You know, Drake does not perform on television very often so I think whenever he does it's a real event," Bracco said (Drake's last awards show performance was at the 2016 Brit Awards). "We built a real terrific relationship with his team, working creatively with them and coming up with a big idea, and I think it's gonna be a very, very big moment in the show. It's not a surprise necessarily but it's gonna be a moment that people aren't exactly expecting.... It'll be memorable, I promise you that."

The BBMAs air 8pm ET on ABC.
