Halsey's Stylist On The Singer's BBMAs Red Carpet Look: "Everything We Do Isn't For Everyone"
In the six months since dressing Halsey in a bold baby pink and leather jumpsuit by Ermanno Scervino for the 2016 AMAs, stylist Maeve Reilly has successfully honed in on the “Now or Never” singer’s edgy street style.
“We took a really big risk the first time we met and she said ‘this is why I hired you and I’m going to go with you on this one’ and it paid off,” Reilly told Billboard. “That's sort of been our M.O. the whole time; everything we do isn’t necessarily for everybody, but fashion understands it and Vogue understands it and that’s the most important thing to me.”
To showcase Halsey’s adventurous sartorial prowess for the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, the duo agreed on a striking khaki floor-length skirt with large belted camouflage pockets from Juun.J, paired with a bra from Sergio Hudson. “It’s really different and interesting,” says Reilly, noting that the Juun.J skirt arrived from Paris during their Friday (May 19) morning fitting. She paired the edgy look with thigh-high lace-up Monika Chiang shoes and kept the rest of the accessories simple. “Ashley is definitely more simple, especially with her shaved head. I have to be a little bit reserved at the face, not to take away from anything that’s going on,” says Riley. Her jewelry is a mix of EF Collection, Vita Fede, Alexis Bittar and Jennifer Fisher because the duo ‘loves’ Fisher’s pieces.
