The Billboard Music Awards and popular music-based video social network app musical.ly are teaming up for this year's award show with a fan-voted honor celebrating musical.ly's most covered artists of the year.

The Chainsmokers, Noah Cyrus, DJ Khaled, Julia Michaels and Hailee Steinfeld are all nominees in the Top Covered Artist category, with voting now open to the public.

Votes will be tallied by whichever artist receives the most covers of their nominated song during the voting period, which runs until May 20 at 6 p.m. EST.

The winner will be announced during the "T-Mobile Magenta Carpet Live at the BBMAs," which will stream live via Twitter before the Billboard Music Awards on May 21 at 6 p.m. EST.

musical.ly will also have an on-site presence at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, giving attending talent the opportunity to create musical.ly videos with a couple of the platform's top stars: dancer, singer and actress JoJo Siwa, and singer Carson Lueders.

The 2017 Billboard Music Awards will broadcast live from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on May 21 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
