Nominations for the 2022 Grammy Awards will be announced on Tuesday Nov. 23, the Recording Academy announced on Tuesday (Sept 21).

As previously announced, the Grammy telecast is set to return to Staples Center in Los Angeles for the first time in two years. This year’s show, delayed from Jan. 31 to March 14 because of the coronavirus pandemic, was staged in and around the adjoining Los Angeles Convention Center, but not in the vast Staples Center.

The upcoming show will be held on Monday, Jan. 31, 2022. This will mark only the third time in the past 20 years that the show has not aired on a Sunday. The show aired on a Monday in 2016 and on a Wednesday in 2006. The show first moved to Sunday -- widely seen as a preferred time slot -- in 2003. It had aired on Tuesday or Wednesday in the years before that move.

The 3-1/2-hour show will air live on both the East and West Coasts, as it has in recent years. It will be broadcast live on CBS and will stream live and on demand on Paramount+ from 8-11:30 p.m. ET / 5-8:30 p.m. PT.

This year’s awards cover a 13-month eligibility period -- Sept. 1, 2020, through Sept. 30, 2021.

Here are key dates on this year’s Grammy calendar:

Oct. 22-Nov. 5: First round voting

Nov. 23: Nominations announced

Dec. 6 -Jan. 5, 2022: Final round voting

Jan. 29, 2022: MusiCares gala and dinner honoring Joni Mitchell

Jan. 31, 2022: 64th Annual Grammy Awards

Other key Grammy Week events will be announced at a later date.

The Recording Academy stresses that “health of all staff, guests and performers is our first priority. As COVID-19 regulations and safety guidelines continue to be monitored and set forth by health officials, dates and in-person events are subject to change.”
