No-Shows BTS Are Top Winners at 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards: Complete List of Winners

Jennifer Lopez received the people’s icon award and had the night's most star-studded presentation.

BTS were the big winners at the 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards, but you’d never know it from watching the two-hour show which aired on E! on Sunday (Nov. 15). The four categories that BTS won weren’t presented on air, so the K-pop sensations were scarcely mentioned. The same is true of Ariana Grande, who won two awards.

The show has 44 categories—not counting three honorary awards. That allows the producers to cherry-pick categories. The categories that are presented on the air are those where the winners agreed to accept.

Justin Bieber won the male artist of 2020, though there was no presentation or acceptance speech. The award was merely mentioned in the introduction to his two-song performance of “Lonely” and “Holy.” Bieber and Chloe X Halle provided the night’s only performances.

Jennifer Lopez received the people’s icon award and had the night's most star-studded presentation. Oscar winners Renée Zellweger and Nicole Kidman both spoke warmly about the versatile star. Armie Hammer presented the award. Tracee Ellis Ross and Tyler Perry received the night’s other special awards.

Bad Boys For Life was named the movie of 2020 even though it lost a subordinate award, the action movie of 2020, to Mulan. Likewise, Grey’s Anatomy won the [TV] show of 2020, even though it lost the drama show of 2020 to Riverdale. One probably shouldn’t look to the E! People’s Choice Awards for logic or consistency.

Demi Lovato hosted the show, which was held at The Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, Calif. There was no live audience, though there was a virtual audience of fans from around the U.S. on large screens on either side of a runway where the winners appeared.

Here’s the full list of winners. Winners who participated in the show are marked with an asterisk.
