Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz perform for the BET Hip Hop Awards 2020.

2 Chainz closed the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards on Tuesday (Oct. 27) with "Money Maker" alongside collaborator Lil Wayne.

But before their set kicked off, Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris had a few words to share. "As a proud HBCU alum, a graduate of Howard University ... I know there is nowhere like an HBCU campus to fully appreciate the power the dignity and the diversity of the voices in our country," she said. "It's where so many of us go to strengthen our voices, to pursue our dreams, and explore our roles in our fight for justice. As a country, we face enormous challenges. And now more than ever, we need Black scientists and engineers and doctors and teachers and public servants to help us build the shared future we all deserve. ... Let's lift up our voices for a better future."

The message was a fitting intro for "Money Maker," whose video featured college marching bands and ended with a dedication to historically black colleges and universities. 2 Chainz kept the message going as his performance began. Sitting on an elevated platform and wearing a red Clark Atlanta University sweatshirt, he said, "One, thank God. Two, shout-out to all the HBCUs out there. Three, lock up the officers that killed Breonna Taylor. And four, make sure you go vote."

When Weezy made his entrance, he -- like 2 Chainz -- was wearing an HBCU sweatshirt, but yellow. Together, the two rappers delivered an energetic performance that included marching band members as well as ballet dancers.

2 Chainz, who faced off against Rick Ross on "Verzuz" in early August, released the song the same month, with the video coming in September. It's the first single off his upcoming album, So Help Me God.

The 15th BET Hip Hop Awards were hosted by comedy trio The 85 South Show's Karlous Miller, DC Young Fly and Chico Bean.
