E! Selects a Major Music Star to Host the 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards

This will mark the first time the show has had a host best known for music since Queen Latifah hosted the show from 2007-11.

Demi Lovato is set to host the E! People’s Choice Awards, which will air live from the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, Calif. on Sunday, Nov. 15.

This will be the first time that the People’s Choice Awards have had a host since 2017, its final year on CBS, when comedian Joel McHale hosted the show. This will mark the first time the show has had a host best known for music since Queen Latifah hosted the show four years running from 2007-11.

Lovato, a five-time People’s Choice Award winner, has had a big year, with performances on the Grammy Awards (“Anyone”), at Super Bowl LIV (the National Anthem) and the Billboard Music Awards (the politically-charged “Commander in Chief’). In addition, she has released collabs with Sam Smith (“I’m Ready”) and Marshmello (“OK Not to Be OK”).

All six of Lovato’s studio albums have reached the top five on the Billboard 200. She has had three top 10 hits on the Hot 100, the highest-charting being “Sorry Not Sorry,” which reached No. 6 in 2017.

As previously announced, another major female star, Jennifer Lopez, will be honored with the People’s Icon of 2020 award.

Justin Bieber and Megan Thee Stallion are this year’s top music nominees, with six nods each. Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga are next in line, with five nods each. The show has 11 music categories out of 44 total categories, which also cover movies, television and pop culture. The voting period extended from Oct. 1-23.

The 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards are produced by Den of Thieves with executive producers Jesse Ignjatovic, Evan Prager and Barb Bialkowski. The show is set to air Sunday, Nov. 15, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
