Maren Morris knows it's been a tough year. During the 2020 ACM Awards on Wednesday (Sept. 16) at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, she performed her single "To Hell and Back."
Morris, who is this year's most nominated female artist, took the stage with four musicians supporting her, each socially distanced. It was a quiet performance to an equally quiet -- and empty -- theater. "My wings are frayed and what's left of my halo's black," she sang. "Lucky for me, your kind of heaven's been to hell and back."
The song is the second single from her sophomore studio album, Girl. Morris dropped the tune in late March, as the cities and states across the country began lockdown to try to slow the number of COVID-19 infections.
