The nominations for the 2020 Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday morning (July 28) by former Saturday Night Live star Leslie Jones, who was joined, virtually, by Laverne Cox, Josh Gad and Tatiana Maslany.

At this year's reimagined virtual ceremony, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, a number of music stars are up for the coveted gold statuette. Billy Porter is up for outstanding lead actor in a drama series for Pose, and Zendaya got a nod for outstanding lead actress in a drama series for her role in Euphoria.

Speaking of Euphoria, Labrinth got two nominations for outstanding music composition for a series (original dramatic score) and outstanding original music and lyrics for Euphoria's "All For Us."

Ingrid Michaelson is also up for outstanding music and lyrics for "Build It Up" featured in Little Fires Everywhere. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross got a nod in the category as well for Watchmen's "The Way It Used to Be." Reznor and Ross' work on Watchmen is up for outstanding music composition for a limited series, movie or special (original dramatic score).

Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo's "Letter to My Godfather," featured on The Black Godfather is up for outstanding original music and lyrics.

In the comedy sphere, Bette Midler is nominated for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series for The Politician. Tituss Burgess is nominated for outstanding supporting actor in a limited series or movie for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy Vs. the Reverend.

RZA is nominated for outstanding original main title theme music for Wu-Tang: An American Saga, and Leslie Odom Jr. is up for outstanding character voice-over performance for his role in episode one of Central Park.

Last but not certainly not least, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira's Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show is nominated for outstanding variety special.
