Even if it is the name of her song, there was nothing "Strange" about soul singer Celeste's stunning performance at the 2020 Brit Awards.

Taking to the stage dressed in a luxurious black gown, the star stripped away every edifice for her performance of "Strange," backed only by a piano, a soft spotlight and her chilling vocals. Never moving from her microphone stand, Celeste simply moved her hands as she sang, "I am still me, you are still you/ In the same place, isn't it strange?"

As soon as she finished her evocative performance, the star walked forward to accept the inaugural rising star award (formerly the Critic's Choice Award), taking a moment to thank her family, her managers, and her fans for helping her realize a goal that she didn't necessarily know she had. "I never thought this would happen for me," she said, grinning.

The win comes amid a flurry of awards for the fast-rising soul singer. Earlier this month, Celeste was voted the winner of BBC Music's Sound of 2020 poll, and in December, she was named BBC Music Introducing's Artist of the Year for 2019.
