Billie Eilish & Finneas Perform Touching Cover of The Beatles' 'Yesterday' For 2020 Oscars In Memoriam Tribute

Billie Eilish and Finneas offered up a gorgeous yet somber rendition of a Beatles classic for this year's in memoriam tribute at the 92nd annual Academy Awards.

On Sunday night (Feb. 9), Eilish and Finneas stayed true to "Yesterday," the sparse ballad sung and originally strummed by Paul McCartney back in 1965: they opted for equally minimal instrumentation for their performance, with Finneas playing the piano as Eilish sang through the tune by his side.

Above them, the screens at the Dolby Theater filled with familiar, beloved faces: the tribute began with basketball legend Kobe Bryant, and went on to pay respects to many of the performers and behind-the-scenes geniuses who had lent their talent to film over the years, including Doris Day, Agnes Varda, Rip Torn, Peter Fonda, John Singleton, Kirk Douglas, Anna Karina, Andre Previn, Peter Mayhew and more.

Eilish's victorious turn at the 2020 Grammy Awards was a hot topic on the red carpet ahead of the show, as she took home five awards at that ceremony on Jan. 26 -- including two for her hit single "Bad Guy" (record of the year and song of the year), two for her breakthrough album When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? (album of the year and best pop vocal album) and best new artist.
