Billboard caught up with Koffee on the red carpet at the 2020 Grammy Awards, discussing being nominated for best reggae album (before her big win!), how it feels to have the Obamas as fans and her plans for 2020.
Asked about her best reggae album nomination for Rapture, Koffee told Billboard she was both excited and nervous. “[I’m] very honored that my music has been noticed and acknowledged on such a level, so, I give thanks.” Her album ended up taking home the prize at the Grammy Premiere Ceremony, before Sunday's telecast.
Koffee also chats about having some very famous fans, since President Obama named her song “Toast” as one of his favorite tracks of 2019. “It was dope,” she says of when she first heard the news. “It was super dope and I realized recently, also, his wife, Michelle Obama also has my song on her list for working out. So, I feel really proud about that.”
