Meet the Best New Regional Mexican Nominees at 2020 iHeartRadio Music Awards

The 2020 iHeartRadio Music Awards have revealed the star-studded nominees for its upcoming ceremony taking place in March.

Among the many categories, which recognize the most-played names and songs throughout iHeartRadio's stations and apps, are a wave of Regional Mexican artists and songs that have become fan favorites.

Five artists are on the spotlight for best new Regional Mexican artist of the year: Banda Los Sebastianes?, El Fantasma, Fuerza Regida, Kanales and Lenin Ramírez. Learn more about them below.

The 2020 iHeartRadio Music Awards will air live at 8 p.m. ET on March 29 from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles via Fox.


Hailing from Mazatlan, Mexico, the 18-member group landed their first Top 10 on Billboard's Latin Airplay chart in January 2019 with the hit "A Través Del Vaso." They have collaborated with artists such as Sebastian Yatra and Joe Montana, meshing regional with urban.


Born Alexander García, El Fantasma kicked off his career in 2016. The Sinaloa-based artist and composer, part of El Fantasma y su Equipo Armado, is one of the most popular singers of “Corridos.” His popular songs include “Vengo a Aclarar” and “Dolor y Amor.”


Led by Mexican-American singer Jesus Ortiz, Fuerza Regida is shedding light on the urban regional Mexican movement. The group claimed its first top 10 on the Top Latin Albums chart (dated July 20, 2019) as their debut album, Del Barrio Hasta Aquí, rocketed 19-8.


Kanales, whose real name is Pedro Haros, was born in Los Cedritos, Cosala. Some of his Billboard hits include “Los Cuervos,” “La Pua de los Alambres,” and most recently, “Ruleteando el Mezcal,” which peaked at No. 29 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart dated Oct. 19, 2019.


Hailing from Culiacan, Sinaloa, Lenin Ramirez, is known for hits such as “Recordando a Manuel,” “Rolling One,” and “Yo Ya No Vuelvo Contigo,” which peaked at no. 22 on Hot Latin Songs chart dated Dec. 21, 2019. He’s also written songs for other artists, including Los Plebes del Rancho.
