Billie Eilish Reveals the Lasting Piece of Advice She Got From Spice Girls' Mel C

Backstage at Billboard’s 2019 Women in Music event, our Woman of the Year Billie Eilish discussed the importance of believing in oneself and revealed the meaningful wisdom she received from Spice Girls' Mel C that stuck with her.

Asked what advice she would give to women struggling to find their self-worth, Eilish emphasized that self-worth is only determined on your own.

“If you don’t think you’re worth it, that’s gonna ruin everything,” she said. “It doesn’t matter who thinks what, it’s literally only you that matters and it’s only your opinion that matters in your life… you’re the only person that controls it.

“Everybody on the planet could not believe in you,” she continued. “If you believe in you, you’re good. So it’s up to you to feel worth it.”

The “Bad Guy” singer was also asked what the best piece of advice she has received from a woman in her life has been, to which she responded that Mel C once told her that it is important to appreciate and savor the exact moment that you’re in.

“She was talking to me about how she was at this show and she just was sitting there thinking about how amazing it is and being in the moment…That really got to me,” recalled Eilish.

“From then on, I’ve always thought about that, for everything I do,” she added. “I just think about what she said…This is the time in my life that I’m gonna look back on and be like, Wow, I wish I would’ve lived in that more and I wish I would have been more present, so I’m trying to be as present as possible, thanks to her.”
