Normani Talks Upcoming Debut Album & Juice WRLD's Legacy at 2019 Billboard Women in Music

Normani stunned on the red carpet at 2019's Billboard Women in Music event, and she chatted with Lele Pons and Chelsea Briggs about her upcoming 2020.

The songstress, who recently unveiled her smash tune "Motivation," discussed her upcoming debut album. "I’ve been very inspired—I mean obviously ‘90s R&B, that’s just what I grew up listening to, but just in terms of vocal arrangement, I’m really tapping into all parts of myself."

"I’m not just the artist that shows up, gets on stage, performs the record or go into the studio and cut the record," she continued. "I’m producing from the ground up with such amazing people I’ve wanted to work with for such a long time and they’re teaching me. I’m writing on everything that I touch as well. I’ve been heavily involved and it’s been like, wow, self-discovery for me too because I’m like, ‘Oh, I can actually wear all of these hats and do them well.’"

The conversation then touched on a serious note, as the songstress was asked how she thinks Juice WRLD, who died last week at the age of 21, will be remembered. "His legacy. For me, the biggest thing that I want to leave them with is how I made them feel. I think his legacy and music will obviously continue to live on."
