The genial Canadian has already achieved a lot, and you have the sense that he's just getting started.

It's not always easy for teen stars to make the transition to successful mainstream pop careers, but Shawn Mendes has made it look effortless. Mendes turns 21 today (Aug. 8) with a raft of accomplishments behind him.

Here are 10 of the most impressive.

3 No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200: All three of Mendes' studio albums to date, Handwritten, Illuminate and Shawn Mendes, have entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1. Mendes secured his third No. 1 when he was 19 years and 10 months old. Only two other artists, Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus, have amassed three No. 1 albums on that flagship chart at such a young age.

5 top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100: Mendes has reached the top 10 with "Stitches," "Treat You Better," "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back," "If I Can't Have You" and "Señorita," a collabo with Camila Cabello. Mendes co-wrote all of these hits except "Stitches."

3 No. 1 hits on Adult Contemporary: Mendes became the first artist in the history of the Adult Contemporary chart, which dates to 1961, to land three No. 1 hits before turning 20. He scored with "Stitches," "Treat You Better" and "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back." (The previous youngest artist to amass three No. 1 hits on that chart was Taylor Swift, who was 20 when she reached No. 1 for the third time.)

2 No. 1 hits in the U.K.: While Mendes is still waiting for his first No. 1 hit on the Hot 100, he has topped the Official U.K. Singles Chart twice, with "Stitches" (two weeks on top in 2016) and "Señorita" (three weeks on top, so far, this year).

2 Grammy noms: Mendes landed his first two Grammy noms this year for "In My Blood," which was nominated for song of the year, and Shawn Mendes, which was nominated for best pop vocal album. Mendes was the only male artist nominated in the latter category this year. The other nominees were Ariana Grande (who won), Cabello, Kelly Clarkson, P!nk and Swift.

8 Juno Awards: Mendes has collected eight Juno Awards in his native Canada. He won five in March, including artist, songwriter, album and single of the year. He's only the third artist to sweep all four of those categories in the same year. The first two were Feist in 2008 and The Weeknd in 2016. (Artist of the year dates to 2003.) Mendes has won single of the year two years running, for "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" and "In My Blood." He's the first artist to win back-to-back awards in that category since Alanis Morissette scored in 1996-97 with "You Oughta Know" and "Ironic."

2 American Music Awards: Mendes won favorite adult contemporary artist in 2017 and 2018. He's the first male artist to win back-to-back awards in that category. Michael Bolton also won twice, but his wins in 1993 and 1995 weren't consecutive.

10 MTV Video Music Award noms: Mendes has received 10 nominations at the VMAs, including five for this year's event on Aug. 26. His top nom this year is artist of the year. He and Jonas Brothers are the only male artists or groups in the running in that category.

4 Billboard Music Award noms: Mendes has received four BBMA noms, including top artist in 2017. He was one of four male soloists nominated for top artist that year. Remarkably, all four were Canadians. The others were Drake (who won), Bieber and The Weeknd.

1 Brit Award nom: Mendes received his first nom at the Brit Awards earlier this year. He was a finalist for international male solo artist. Drake won.
