Lizzo has certainly enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2019, with a top 10 debut album and her first Billboard Hot 100 hits -- one of which, “Truth Hurts,” was presented at the 2019 BET Awards with tons of the singer’s typical flair.

After host Regina Hall introduced Lizzo by declaring that she takes “black girl magic” to a new level, Lizzo proceeded to do just that, opening “Truth Hurts” on a giant wedding cake before descending to the stage and brandishing her bouquet. After watching her backup dancers twerking alongside her, Lizzo did the same, then busted out her flute solo and made Rihanna smile and dance along in the crowd before the pyrotechnics capped off the performance.

“Truth Hurts” was originally released by Lizzo in 2017, but thanks in part to being featured in the Netflix film Someone Great, the track has become a late-blooming hit, reaching No. 17 on the Hot 100. Meanwhile, Lizzo's “Juice” has reached No. 93 on the chart.

Cuz I Love You, Lizzo’s debut full-length, hit No. 6 on the Billboard 200 albums chart upon its April release. In recent months, she made her Coachella debut and appeared on her pal Charli XCX’s new song “Blame It On Your Love.”
